- Avoids reading
- Self-conscious when reading aloud
- Chooses books that are below grade level
- Omits or mispronounces small words
- Inserts letters
- Guesses at multi-syllable words
- Reads with little expression
- Reading level noticeably below verbal skills
- Writing level significantly below verbal skills
- Difficulty with spelling
- Comprehension compromised
Typical Symptoms of Partially Developed Conceptual Imagery Function:
- Often needs to reread material
- Retains parts of what is heard or read
- Difficulty synthesizing parts into whole
- Oral directions are only partially understood
- Misses social cues
- Difficulty sequencing ideas
- Vocabulary below grade level
- Critical thinking skills weak
- Math skills uneven: computation okay, but story problems difficult
