About LiLaC :: HomePage

This The Literacy and Language Center (LiLaC) is dedicated to identifying and remediating the underlying causes of learning dysfunction in children and adults so that they may engage the full power of their intelligence, curiosity and wonder in their lifelong pursuit of learning.

Often our bright children have minor or very significant deficits in their auditory and/or visual processing functions, which substantially impact their reading (decoding and spelling) skills. In addition to the challenges presented by the mechanics of reading, there may be difficulties in comprehension, imaging the whole in relation to the parts, or in critical thinking processes. Students who struggle with these issues too often become underachievers, behavior problems, are labeled "dyslexic" or as having "A.D.(H.) D." Their self-esteem erodes and a negative projectory is set into motion.

The theories and multi-sensory methodologies developed by Lindamood-BellŪ to address the foundational components of reading, spelling, thinking and comprehension can not only reverse students' experiences of repeated frustration and failure, but empower them to become independent, self-directed and joyful learners functioning at grade level, if not beyond.

Reading is the key to success in school as well as in the larger arena of life. No matter how a child needs to learn, every child deserves the chance to achieve at reading. LiLaC is dedicated to this vision: one child at a time.
